Note: This is an informational page only. Blades are not sold by theselves, but are part of all StradSaw model purchases. Most models of StradSaws can be fitted with any of the blades listed on this page. To see StradSaw models, please visit the following page: https://musicalsawsshop.com/models-information
StradSaw blades come in many sizes, from an ultra-compact 20" Lark blade on up to the huge and very popular 34" Grand Blade. All blades get four complete octaves/49 notes, except for the Lark blade, which get 3.5 octaves.
StradSaw blades are made entirely by hand. The process is tedious and time-consuming, but the results are wonderful! Each blade is rigorously tested upon completion, and any blade which doesn't pass the difficult testing is thrown out - I never sell defective blades!
Most of my available StradSaw models can be fitted with different sizes of blades. If you are interested in a particular blade, please contact me and let me know! Simply click on the "Contact Me" button on this page.
Here are the available blades:
This special little blade is one of the smallest musical saw blades in the world! It is made from a super-hard, slightly thinner steel than normal musical saw blades. The metal used is 0.032" in a blue-tempered hardness, giving just the right amount of bendability and response for a blade of this size. The sound is surprisingly strong and rich, with every note in the 3.5-octave range fully usable. The sustain is good, also. Note range is from G below middle C up to a high E. This is a very fun blade to play, and everyone can easily manage it - even children and very short people.
Made from 0.035" spring steel, this super-compact blade yields 4 complete octaves/49 notes. The tone is surprisingly strong and good for a blade this size, with all notes being fully usable. Note range is from E below middle C up to a high E. Like the Lark blade, this blade can be played by children and people with very limited arm reach, but all saw players will enjoy the compact length, which results in an instrument the size of many ordinary handsaws.
Made from 0.035" spring steel, this compact blade has a very full, powerful tone and excellent sustain and response. It is just long enough to have a nice low end, starting on a low D an octave below middle C and extending up four fully usable octaves/49 notes. LIke the 28" Martin Special blade, the 27" blade is terrific for very fast, lively tunes, but it works quite well on slower music also. This is a good blade for players who have slightly limited arm reach, but who want the nice low end of the larger blades.
This is my most popular blade, named after Timothy Martin in Florida. Tim Martin is one of the best saw players in the world, and he speciallizes in lightning-fast fiddle music! On this blade, he can compete with fiddle players and he can play about any style of music that he wants on it. This blade has everything - powerful tone, quick response and excellent sustain when you need it. It is compact enough to work for most saw players, especially when it is mounted in a Minstrel StradSaw handle...the resulting instrument is about the same length as larger handsaws. Made from 0.035" spring steel, the note range is four complete octaves, from low C an octave below middle C and upward.
The 29" blade crosses over into bass/baritone territory, with a slightly extended low end. The note range is four complete octaves/49 notes, beginning on a low B an octave and a note below middle C. Beautiful baritone sound, with rich low notes and excellent sustain. This is a good choice for players of medium height and reach, who want a true baritone range (Due to having more steel material and requiring more labor to build, this blade may add to your StradSaw purchase price - please contact me for exact quotes).
This is a true bass blade, with a note range of four full octaves/49 notes. The bottom note is a Bb an octave and a whole note below middle C, and extending upward. The sound is very rich and powerful, with great sustain and wonderful low notes. The higher notes are strong and even, yet easy on the ear! Not every saw player can play a 30" blade - it works best for taller players with good reach. Made from 0.035" spring steel. (Due to having more steel material and requiring more labor to build, this blade may add to your StradSaw purchase price - please contact me for exact quotes).
The 32" Concert Blade is a true bass blade, with a four-octave note range beginning on a low A an octave and a third below middle C. The low notes are powerful and rich - very satisfying for players who want a beautiful low end. The sustain is superb on this blade! It is extra flexible due to the added length, but it still has about the right amount of bend resistance to make for very secure playing with or without a saw cheat. This is my personal favorite blade - I have it on my own StradSaw! This concert blade projects very powerfully, and its sound can easily fill a concert hall. Please be aware that not all saw players have enough arm reach for this blade - it is best suited to tall players with above-average reach! Made from 0.035" spring steel. (Due to having more steel material and requiring more labor to build, this blade may add to your StradSaw purchase price - please contact me for exact quotes).
The 34" Concert Blade has the deepest low range of any of my blades. LIke all StradSaw blades, it has four fully usable octaves/49 notes. Unlike other blades, it goes down to a low G an octave and a fourth below middle C! The tone is good and strong, with lots of sustain. Because of the extended length, this blade is very flexible and requires very minimal S-bending, with or without a saw cheat. This blade is not for players with limited reach! It works best for players 6' tall or over. Made from 0.035" spring steel (Due to having more steel material and requiring more labor to build, this blade may add to your StradSaw purchase price - please contact me for exact quotes).
Not for the faint of heart! This giant blade is a Hercules of musical saw blades, requiring good strength and above-average reach. The use of a strong saw cheat is a must! Players who can handle it get rewarded with very powerful, concert hall-filling sound and very long sustains. This blade can easily hold its own against other instruments, and it does great on stages - yet it also can play at a whisper! The Grand Concert Blade should be considered an advanced-level blade for experienced players...and even then it takes some getting used to!(Due to having more steel material and requiring more labor to build, this blade may add to your StradSaw purchase price - please contact me for exact quotes).
